( Geologically, Larimar belongs to the silicate mineral family and is a rare blue variety of the mineral pectolite. Geographically, it is the Dominican Republic's exclusive gem in the Caribbean, which apparently is the reason for its rarity and value apart from the beauty it possesses. )

There's only 1 Larimar mine in the whole world! It was closed in 2021 due to over mining.
